What is your favourite sport? Do you know how the fitness components influence your performance in sport?
The following are the 6 skill-related components, including agility, balance, coordination, power, speed and reaction time. They have a direct relationship with enhanced performance in sport and motor skills.
Give my sport, soccer as an example.
Soccer may be the most difficult sport in the world because it requires many fitness components to exert their performance. Indeed, there are more 5 health-related components, namely muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and body composition. Of course, building these can also enhance your sport performance. You can know more about them on this webpage. By the way, I would like to recommend some tests for measuring your sport performance next time.
The following are the 6 skill-related components, including agility, balance, coordination, power, speed and reaction time. They have a direct relationship with enhanced performance in sport and motor skills.
- Agility is the ability to move deftly and change direction quickly with a series of explosive power movements.
- Balance is the ability to control your body to maintain equilibrium while moving or static situation.
- Coordination is the ability to use the senses together with body parts during movement
- Power combines strength and speed, which exerts muscular strength rapidly.
- Speed is the ability to move your body quickly or parts of your body swiftly.
- Reaction time is the interval time between the presentation of a stimulus and the initiation of the muscular response to that stimulus. It is the ability to reach or respond quickly to that you hear, see and feel.
Give my sport, soccer as an example.
- When I am dribbling the ball, I need agility to move deftly with the ball to dribble past the defender.
- Body confrontation is commonly happened during the match so players need body balance to keep the ball pos session.
- Coordination is needed to perform tasks accurately and with efficiency of my movement so I always need to observe the position of my teammates at the same time while I am dribbling so that I can precisely pass the ball to them. Using feet and eyes together is called feet-eyes coordination.
- Power is a combination of both speed and muscular strength. For example, fullbacks in football muscling their way through other players and speeding to advance the ball.
- Speed is necessary for me to run quickly in a short distance for chasing the ball or dribbling past the defender.
- Eventually, I need reaction time when I snatch the ball or keep the ball control from a sudden attack of my opponents.
